Position Overview

Marrbeck is currently searching for a general laborer for a one-year project they are currently delivering in Shoal Lake, Manitoba. Preference will be given to candidates living within the Shoal Lake area for the duration of the project. At a minimum, the candidate must be able to work 4, 10hr day work rotations or 5, 8hr day work rotations. Evening and/or weekend shifts will be required.

Reporting to the Site Superintendent & the Director of Field Operations, the General Laborer is the onsite support for Marrbeck and is accountable for their assigned tasks during the construction phase.

Working independently and as part of a project team, the General Laborer is responsible for including but not limited to:

  • Loading, unloading, and moving construction materials.
  • Ensuring the worksite is kept clean, and clear of any hazards.
  • Using power tools & measuring devices to complete basic carpentry tasks.
  • Using basic power tools safely.
  • Monitoring and recording work completed.
  • All other general laborer duties as may be required.

The General Laborer receives direct supervision from the Site Superintendent regarding overall policy and delivery objectives.

Achieving these objectives will always be balanced with:

  • Maintaining Integrity and Business Ethics

Qualifications, Education, Experience & Skills:

  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License, or ability to get to site by your own means.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • CSA approved steel toed boots.
  • Physically fit and able to handle manual labor.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Critical thinking and effective decision-making skills.
  • Experienced with basic power tools and safe operating procedures.
  • High attention to detail.
  • General carpentry skills or the desire to learn carpentry skills is an asset.
  • Knowledge of and experience in the construction industry is an asset.
