Door Installation Technician - Major Installs (Winnipeg, MB)

Salary: $20-25/hr to start (depending upon skills & experience)
Job Type: Permanent - Full-time (40 hours per week)
Location: Winnipeg and surrounding communities

Job Summary

Major Installs is a small commercial hollow metal door and hardware installation company that is hiring for the position of Door Installation Technician. Applicant will install commercial doors and hardware including accessories and specialties. Applicants must have strong characteristics of honesty, integrity, strong work ethic, and commitment.

Experience

Experience in general labour work would be considered an asset.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to use basic hand tools, and mechanical ability considered an asset.
  • Ability to complete forms, logs and paperwork as required.
  • Ability to complete installations as listed in the job description.
  • Familiarity with door mechanics and reading blueprints.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others to set goals, resolve conflicts and make decisions that enhance the effectiveness of Major Installs.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Complete quality error-free and timely service and installation of goods.
  • Day to day communication with management team.
  • Being dedicated to personal and professional development.
  • Repair, troubleshoot, and retrofit existing openings and products.
  • Manage assigned schedule and document service and installation activities.
  • Some overtime/out of town work and overnight travel on occasion.
  • Able to work in a team environment with the ability to follow and understand safety requirements.

Qualifications

  • Must have own hand tools or ability to acquire (drill and bits, tape measure, level).
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license required. Having own vehicle is required.
  • A grade 12 education or GED would be considered an asset.
  • Training in Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) would be an asset.
