My name is Jess, and in March 2020 at the beginning of Covid-19 I was laid off from my full time job. At the time my plans were to complete my Human Resource Management schooling through Red River College while working full time. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned…
I reached out to Andrew Boryskavich with the Metis Employment and Training department in the early summer of 2020 as I was very frustrated and felt I didn’t have the necessary skills to job hunt, write a solid resume, or have a solid interview (I had been out of the job market for many years, and to complicate things I was switching career paths). Andrew helped guide me through the process of switching my career path. He provided me tips on building my interview skills and helped me fine tune my resume and cover letter to focus on the transferable skills and experience I do have.
Throughout the process of finishing school, Andrew never gave up on me, always checking in and holding me accountable – reminding me of my goals. After graduation from the HRM program on April 6, 2021 it took me just six weeks to find reputable employment in HR for a Metis organization. I am so very thankful for all of the help I received from Metis Employment & Training department at MMF.
