The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is working together with local communities to provide training and work experience for Metis, Non-Status and Inuit workers who are experiencing barriers to employment. The organization partnered with the city of Selkirk and the RM of West St. Paul for an employment readiness program and urban beautification called “It’s my Community Too (IMCT)” which was established in 2009.
“ The beautification program will help taxpayers in St Paul and Selkirk as it would not cost them a cent. On our side, we are taking this opportunity to build skills, training and accountability to better equip adults and youths in the future. ” Trainees can earn wages throughout the program as well as training, counselling and assistance in developing career goals and action plans, job search strategies and referrals to other employment and training opportunities.
